CAT is all-India national level computer based test conducted by IIMs(Indian Institutes of Management)as entrance exam for admission to management programmes. Based on CAT percentile score,candidates are called for next stage of selection rejection process which usually consists of Group Discussion, Essay and Personal Interview(GDPI).CAT is multiple-choice based test with penalties for wrong answers.
CAT 2015 New Paper pattern : There are Three Sections:Quantative Ability,Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Verbal and Reading Comprehension.The duration of the exam is 180 minutes,60 minutes for each question.Each section has to be answered in alloted time,i.e.60 minutes.QA and VRC will have 34 questions each and DILR 32 questions.Some questions in each section will not be of MCQ type, answer will be typed on the screen.
CAT 2014 Paper Pattern : There were two Sections.The first section,Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and second section,verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning,50 questions each.The duration of the exam,170 minutes.No seperate time limit on sections.
Since the year 2009, CAT has been conducted online as Computer Based Test (CBT). From CAT 2009 to CAT 2013, it had 60 questions to be attempted in 2 hours and 15/20 minutes
